Keep the three tips below in mind and your golf vacation at PGA National Resort & Spa can be a great one.

If you watched the PGA Tour’s Honda Classic over the weekend, you saw an impressive, wire-to-wire win by Camilo Villegas.

Likewise, you got an eyeful of the picturesque Palm Beach, Fla., venue where he performed it: PGA National Resort & Spa.

Here is what you didn’t see, however, and if you ever select PGA National Resort & Spa for a golf vacation, these things could make or break your trip.  Read more →

Doral Golf Resort's new course is finished, but other important areas are not.

Doral Golf Resort's new course is finished, but other important areas are not.

You’ve probably been hearing a lot about the “complete” renovation of Miami’s Doral Golf Resort, but there’s something you should know before booking your Florida golf vacations there.

Let me first say, without question, there is a lot to be excited about, including the Jim McLean Signature Course, which replaces the forgettable Silver Course.

But there’s one thing you need to know — information the resort’s reservation agents don’t volunteer — that could make or break your trip there, or to any “renovated” resort.  Read more →

A new course to play on Florida golf vacations: the Jim McLean Signature Course at Doral Golf Resort (hole 13).

Miami, Florida’s Doral Golf Resort must think its “new” course is so nice,  they had to open it twice.

The Jim McLean Signature Course, which is a complete overhaul of what was the forgettable Silver Course, opened back in June.  But that didn’t stop Doral from having a “grand opening” two weeks ago.  Read more →

The Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Resort provides a unique experience for Florida golf vacations.

The Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Resort provides a unique experience on Florida golf vacations.

What names come to mind when I say “Florida golf resorts?”

Doral? PGA National? Grand Cypress? Bay Hill?

I bet Tampa’s Innisbrook Resort & Golf Club wasn’t one of them.

You can now play the world's first Waldorf Astoria golf course on Florida golf vacations.

I wonder if any of the guys playing in the PGA Tour’s Disney World event this week are staying at the nearby Waldorf Astoria.

Yes, that Waldorf Astoria. Sort of.

The first extension of the hotel outside of New York City opened last month in Orlando, Florida of all places, and with it, the Waldorf Astoria Golf Club, the first golf facility to carry the esteemed brand’s name.  Read more →

The 17th hole is often the highlight of rounds at TPC Sawgrass and Florida golf vacations.

Most weeks, the courses you see during the PGA Tour telecast are private. But not this week. Anyone can play the Players Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass, host site of the Players Championship, and we just love that.

Many of you must love it, too, because, for the last few years on the Monday after the Players Championship, and for weeks thereafter, we get flooded with questions about playing TPC Sawgrass on a Florida golf vacation.

This year, I thought I’d try to answer some of your questions in advance given that the editors of Golf Odyssey played TPC Sawgrass just 90 days ago.  Read more →

florida-golf-vacation-caddyshack-movie-4Part of being a golfer is having the uncontrollable urge to recite lines from the Caddyshack movie whenever remotely relevant, but did you know you can play the real-life “Bushwood Country Club” on a Florida golf vacation, even though it’s a private course?

It’s true, and the proof is in these photos, taken by the editors of Golf Odyssey during one of the anonymous, “secret shopper” inspections they regularly make at golf courses and resorts worldwide.  Read more →

Take advantage of golf packages to ensure you never pay published golf rates at PGA National Resort & Spa.

This week, the PGA Tour is playing the Honda Classic on the Champion Course at PGA National Resort & Spa, but the course’s high profile doesn’t mean you have to pay the high rack rate on your Florida golf vacation.

In fact, the editors of Golf Odyssey say that savvy golfers never pay the rack rates for any of the five courses at PGA National Resort & Spa.  Read more →
