Sticks and stone: Latilla's elegant dining room.
With no less than six on-site dining options, choosing where to eat at the highly acclaimed Boulders Resort & Golden Door Spa is almost as challenging as the courses you’ll play on your Arizona golf vacation.
We say “almost,” because the best choice, for dinner anyway, is the elegant but unpretentious Latilla in the main Lodge, the signature dinner restaurant at the resort.
This stunning space features an enchanting canopied ceiling made of latilla or “little sticks”, plus muted lighting, plenty of Native American art, and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the pool and illuminated granite rock formations, further enriching the ambiance.
Latilla’s contemporary American cuisine is tastefully presented and complemented by an excellent wine list. We enjoyed garlic and herb-roasted lamb loin with Israeli couscous on our visit, but the menu is regularly updated and always exhibits terrific range. A recent check of its offerings showed everything from smoked antelope to artichoke soup to several fish dishes.
Reservations are strongly recommended as demand for tables, and particularly the banquettes, is high. So, don’t debate the choices too long; if you choose Latilla you can’t go wrong.
