Punta Cana's spectacular courses could become the No. 1 draw for Dominican Republic golf vacations.

Those considering Dominican Republic golf vacations now have more to choose from besides the venerable Casa de Campo Resort in La Romana.
Punta Cana, an area on the country's east coast long known for it's all-inclusive beach retreats, is poised to become the golf mecca of the Caribbean.
Although none of its individual resorts can yet match the collection of courses at Casa de Campo Resort, Punta Cana offers superior beaches and seaside golf that's even more spectacular than its older rival.
The rest of the golf world will get a glimpse of this when the Champions Tour stages its inaugural Cap Cana Championship in Punta Cana in early April, but we witnessed it firsthand during our recent, December visit.
In short, Punta Cana provides a combination of glorious sun and surf, an easy-access airport served by several international hubs, posh hotels, and exhilarating golf. And, as construction proceeds at a furious pace and more world-class hotels and courses prepare to open later this year, Punta Cana could possibly nudge out the Casa de Campo Resort as the first place people think of for their Dominican Republic golf vacations...and possibly the first place they consider for their
Caribbean golf vacations in general.
Our comprehensive Punta Cana review, which includes A, B, C, D, F-type ratings for the key golf courses and hotels, was just published in the February issue of Golf Odyssey, our monthly newsletter.
