The Best Spa to Experience on Your Scottsdale, Arizona Golf Vacation

By Craig Better |

Courtesty of Scottsdale CVB

The Golden Door Spa at The Boulders Resort has been clay wrapping and chakra balancing long before treatments such as these became en vogue at golf resorts.

It is still the standard to which many aspire when they add spas to their properties and is simply the best spa experience you can have on your Arizona golf vacation.

Inside its 33,000 square-foot space that marries an Asian Zen sensibility with Native American tranquility, there is a veritable cornucopia of services from which to choose.

From “theme” massages, tailored to golfers or mothers-to-be, to Eastern arts such as Shiatsu and Acupuncture, to herbal scrubs and clay wraps, to traditional salon services such as facials and manicures, everything is performed by skilled and knowledgeable technicians with flawless, pampering service.

But one need not partake of such indulgences to reap the Golden Door’s beneficial effects, for spa activities also include Pilates, yoga, Tai Chi, rock climbing, hiking and nature excursions, including a spectacular night walk with night-vision equipment.

For the less adventurous, there’s the spa’s signature mediation Labyrinth, a spiral path overlooking the desert; the Watsu, where you’re cradled by a technician in an outdoor, heated pool; and a full menu of classroom-style nutritional and wellness consultations.

Or, you could simply choose to relax beside the glorious pool, though we recommend making it the spa pool rather than the main resort pool. Whereas the former prohibits children under the age of 12 and is entirely quiet and meditative, the latter can get quite crowded.
