Great golf courses arent defined by their clubhouse pubs and restaurants, but great overall golf experiences certainly are. Unfortunately, too many outstanding courses serve mediocre fare in mundane environments. Talk about a post-round letdown.
The exact opposite is true at Whistling Straits, where the rustic stone clubhouse is reminiscent of an Irish manor and sets the perfect tone for lunch or dinner on an American Club Kohler golf vacation, especially following a blustery day on either of its linksy courses.
The windows of the dining room and upstairs pub look out to the 9th and 18th greens of the Straits Course, where Seven Mile Creek adds to the drama of every approach shot. A blazing fire, wood-paneled walls and overstuffed leather chairs add warmth and ambiance to carefully prepared American cuisine infused with Irish flair. Some people say this is the best dining experienceclubhouse or otherwiseon an American Club Kohler golf vacation.
From the potato leek soup to the beer-battered fish-and-chips, to the seared duck and roasted quail, the menu is so authentically prepared, youll think youve died and gone to Dublin.
