5 Fantastic Warm-Weather Golf Vacation Packages (special offers)

by Craig Better

Jan92013

Don’t you just love getting on a plane wearing your coat but stepping off in your shirtsleeves?Well, it was 18 degrees here in metro N.Y. when I wrote this, and that has me thinking about where to warm up and play golf this winter (and early spring, if my wife will let me).I assume it’s on your mind, too, so today I’m going to share some of the better golf packages I recently found while combing through the “hot deals” at Golf Zoo, one of the specialty golf travel agencies I use.
(I like Golf Zoo because they’re large enough to negotiate great offers; they back up their pledge to customer care; and because many of their agents live and golf in the destinations they sell, they can provide invaluable local knowledge, trip customizations, and access to special courses). They also serve a ton of destinations in the USA and abroad, but these five packages struck me as being particularly good (and good deals) for having some fun in the sun…
Scottsdale, Arizona:
Play top golf and stay in a luxury home from $249 per person, per day.
Awesome golf course in Punta Cana Luxury, private home in Scottsdale
This package includes:- 4 nights in a private, upscale home- 4 rounds of golf (with cart) at Desert Canyon, SunRidge Canyon, The Raven at
South Mountain, and Legend Trail- Valid from January 1-May 1, 2013

Why I like it: It’s awesome for group/buddy trips because everyone in your party stays under one roof. These upscale, private homes include private pools, hot tubs, big-screen TV’s, pool tables, poker tables, Ping-Pong tables, high-speed Wi-Fi, and putting greens. I also like that two of Golf Zoo’s top reps lives locally and that the golf courses, all quite good, are some of the best values in the area. Learn more here.

Orlando, Florida:
Play private golf, stay in an upscale villa from $189 per person, per day.
Orlando golf Orlando golf
This package includes:- 3 nights in an upscale, 3-bedroom villa- 3 rounds of golf (with cart) at Ritz Carlton GC at Grand Lakes, Bella Collina, and
Eagle Creek- Valid 7 days a week from January 21-April 7, 2013

Why I like it: First, you can’t beat the price, especially in high season. Second, it provides access to the better courses in the area, including the private Bella Collina golf course. Third, I like the idea of a local rep on hand if something goes haywire. Learn more here.

Punta Cana, Dominican Republic:
All-inclusive lodging, meals, drinks and the area’s best golf from $502 per person, per day.
Awesome golf course in Punta Cana Awesome golf course in Punta Cana
This package includes:- 4 nights in a junior suite at the Fishing Lodge at Cap Cana- 4 rounds of golf (with cart) at Punta Espada (2 rounds), La Cana, and Corales

- Unlimited dining and premium beverages at Fishing Lodge and The Sanctuary

- Use of golf practice facilities before each round

- Resort shuttle service

- All resort service fees and taxes are included

- Valid January 1-June 21, 2013

Why I like it: It includes top-shelf golf, including two rounds on Punta Espada, arguably the best golf course in the Caribbean. The Fishing Lodge — located in Cap Cana resort’s Mediterranean style marina/village — is also known as one of the best values in Punta Cana. And at 10 minutes from the airport, it’s certainly one of the most convenient, too. Learn more here.

Mesquite, Nevada:
Play jaw-dropping golf and stay in a private villa from $210 per person, per day.
Sunny Scottsdale Sunny Scottsdale
This package includes:- 4 nights in a 3 bedroom villa at HawkRidge- 4 rounds of golf (with cart) at Wolf Creek, Conestoga, Oasis, and Coral Canyon

- Valid 7 days a week from January 1-April 30, 2013

Why I like it: The golf not only includes Mesquite’s best (Wolf Creek) and newest (Conestoga) courses, it also includes a worthwhile trip over the nearby border to play one of St. George, Utah’s best: Coral Canyon. Plus, rather than holing up in a casino room, you get to spread out in a nicer, three-bedroom villa. Not bad for a little more than two bills per day. Learn more here.

Williamsburg, Virginia:
Play some of the best courses and stay in a private villa (each person with their own bedroom and bathroom) from $205 per person, per day.
Image of Golden Horshoe Golf Club Image of a bedroom at The Colonies at Williamsburg
This package includes:- 3 nights in a 4-bedroom, 4-bathroom villa at The Colonies at Williamsburg- 3 rounds of golf (with carts) at Golden Horseshoe Gold, Golden Horseshoe Green,
and Colonial Heritage- Valid 7 days a week from April 1-June 13th, 2013

Why I like it: While this weather window is iffy up North, it averages 70-80 degrees down here. That’s ideal to play the Gold Course (RTJ, Sr.), arguably the area’s best and top-5 in the entire state. The other two, Green (Rees Jones) and Colonial Heritage (Arthur Hills), are up there, too. Plus, in these four-bedroom villas, everyone gets their own bedroom and bathroom. Learn more here.
