Love your website.
Thank you, Roy. Love your efficient use of the English language. Made my day.
Great photo of Old Head Golf Course. Old Head is one of the premier golfing destinations for our clients. We would be glad to assist any of your readers with preferred tee times or other Irish Golfing arrangements. Old head Golf course is one that should be on all golfers’ bucket lists. I have two deals to mention to you. 1) At Pinehurst Resort now til mid Feb. 2010 I think, you can stay at the Carolina Hotel, get a great buffet breakfast and a round of golf on Course # 2 for $222. Now that’s a deal, I think it is with double occpancy. 2) the “Glens Package” includes play on Heather Glen, Shaftsberry Glen and Glen Dornach all in the North Mrytle Beach area. With package price (which of course varies depending on the season) you get a free 18 hole replay each day on the course you are playing with advanced booked 2nd round tee times. We are going in Jan. 2010 and while we will not get in 36 holes per day it is still a great deal for $262 which includes condos at the Heather Glens course. I booked mine with golfdog.com.
Thanks, JC! I think we wrote about both of these packages in the past, although at the time, the Pinehurst package was $252, not $222. Our opinion of the “Glens Package” in Myrtle Beach is here.
If you only have one golf course to play the rest of your life, OLD HEAD in Kinsale Ireland, is the one. Every hole has some view of the ocean….unbelievable. Ya gotta play it at least once…
Played Dove Mountain in late November. Very nice, however, you may want to check and see if ALL THREE courses will be available. The staff told us that they were letting the fairways on Wild Burro grow without any greenkeeping/care for a few months due to extremely low frequency of play. They will continue usual care of the greens. Wonderful setting, beautiful views and sunsets, and typical “Ritz-style” comfort and service. I do plan to go back……….
Hi, just discovered your site and loving it so far! Question: Have you guys ever done a piece on Australian golfing holidays? I’m thinking specifically around the Melbourne, Aus region.
Cheers!
Thank you! Yes, we’ve covered Australia (Tazmania!) and New Zealand in the past and there’s more to come. You can find these posts here.
Great site! Have been searching resorts near Austin , San Antonio and although I’m not cheap my wife is. Alright she’s “frugal”, Is there a resort in the area that won’t make my wife grab her purse? Looking at a 3-5 day stay and play. We are there a week ahead of a group golfers coming to Texas from Winnipeg for another golf package. Would love to try a resort once. Thanks.
Have you considered the Hyatt Lost Pines and its Wolfdancer Golf Club? Search our site for “wolfdancer” and you’ll find sources of info and advice.
I played Old Head last May. The published rate was something way over 200 Euros, but we had heard they were discounting and folks were paying 75 Euros. We arrived at the course negotiated with the concierage and we DID play for 75 Euros. This is a must play course!!!!!!!
