A few months ago, I told you about some of the worst products I saw at the PGA Show.
Now let me tell you about one of the best:
The 3Bays GSA (Golf Swing Analyzer).
I’m sure you’ve been hearing alot about golf swing analyzers, including from me.
There’s a reason: they’re probably the most helpful and affordable game-improvement devices since the cavity-back iron.
You simply attach them to your club and swing…
…and you can immediately see that swing in incredible detail — your plane, path, speed, tempo, face angle, etc. — on your smartphone or tablet.
In other words, you can see exactly what you’re doing (vs. what you think you’re doing) and understand why the ball is going where it’s going.
All this, without having to videotape yourself or bothering someone else to do it.
It’s unprecedented insight for playing better golf (and having more fun).
What’s Different about the 3Bays GSA…
As I mentioned, there are a lot of these analyzers on the market. Some are quite good.
The biggest difference about 3Bays — and one reason I really like it — is the way it attaches to your club.
It’s the only analyzer that goes in the butt end of your grip where it’s totally out of the way and out of sight.
What’s less obvious is, at only a third of an ounce, it’s “the world’s lightest” golf swing analyzer, too.
Bottom line: You don’t see it or feel it, but it’s working.
Most Importantly, It’s Extremely Accurate
Of course, it doesn’t matter how lightweight or affordable a swing analzyer is; if it isn’t accurate, it’s worthless.
That’s why I gave the 3Bays a real workout before writing this.
First, I took about two dozen swings with it.
So far, so good: the 3Bays easily identified and showed me what pros, simulators, and expensive launch monitors have told me before.
Namely, that my swing plane “comes over the top” and I sometimes open the clubface at impact.
Then, I made a dozen more bad swings — this time on purpose (ha, ha).
3Bays picked up and mapped those, too, even the subtle changes I made to clubhead speed, path, face angle, etc. Very impressive.
Finally, I put the 3Bays to what is probably an unfair test — comparing its accuracy against Trackman.
Trackman, as you may know, is considred the gold standard of launch monitors.
It also costs about 20,000 bucks.
But my results were similar to what you’ll find in video reviews all over the Web:
3Bays usually differs from Trackman by only a couple yards (when measuring carry distance) or miles-per-hour (when measuring clubhead and ball speed).
My conclusion? 3Bays is like getting $20,000 technology for less than $200.
And, it Works Easily with iPhone and Android
Speaking of technology, I hate when things designed to make life simpler do exactly the opposite.
So, I have to give major points to 3Bays for making this easy to set up and use.
You simply pop it onto your club, download the free app, and you’re ready to swing.
I think it took me all of three minutes.
What Other Reviewers Are Saying…
