After my recent post about personalized golf balls, many of you asked me to suggest other holiday golf gift ideas.
Here are a few more unique options that are “sure things” at the same time….
For your boss or clients: A David Musty Putter
I normally wouldn’t suggest something as personal as a putter, but these jaw-droppingly gorgeous and totally customizable ones from David Musty are a hit even as a keepsake adorning an office or den.
In truth, they have brains to match their beauty, and some say the technology (which creates an expanded sweet spot and topspin at impact) helps them drain more putts than with anything else on the market.
As for the name, the only thing musty about these putters is that anyone who sees them immediately “must” own one. Just ask Michael Jordan, Derek Jeter, Bill Parcells, the Cypress Point Club, Pebble Beach Resorts, Bay Hill Club & Lodge, and the NFL, MLB, and NBA teams who own them.
Normally $275-$300, GVI readers can order one of these beauties for $235 and get free personalization (logo and text), which would normally cost $20 more.
By the way, workmanship is guaranteed for the life of the putter and one free refurbishment is included.
If you’re interested, simply email me and I’ll have the company’s Bill Sendell (the former pro at Spyglass Hill) help you create and personalize a putter for you or your gift recipient. (Be sure to reply to me first so you get the GVI discount).
For your tech-loving friends or family members: Swingbyte
In case you missed this back in October, this was my pick for “golf gadget of the year.”
You simply attach it to any club and swing…and you can then see that swing in incredible detail — your plane, path, speed, tempo, face angle, etc — on your smartphone or tablet (iPhone and Android). Nope, there’s no need to videotape yourself.
There are a few products like this on the market, but I think Swingbyte is the overall product, price and support-after-the-sale winner. You can learn why by reading my full review here.
For your significant other or travel pals: A weeklong Costa Rica golf adventure
Why Costa Rica? Well, it has great weather, it has surprisingly good golf courses; it’s safe, it’s relatively quick and easy to reach; it offers a great bang-for-the-buck; and it and it offers some of the most exciting and memorable eco-adventures and outdoor pursuits you’ll find.
And here’s the best part: Landy Blank, our go-to guy for trips down there, recently put together a six-night, five-round package at the country’s best golf resorts. It includes:
- Airport transfer to, and four nights lodging at the Westin Playa Conchal in a Junior Suite (includes food and beverages)
- Two rounds of golf at the Reserva Conchal Golf Club
- One round of golf at the nearby Hacienda Pinilla Resort
- Private transfer to the Four Seasons Resort at Peninsula Papagayo
- Two rounds of golf at the Four Seasons Golf Club
- Two nights lodging in a Terraza Room at the Four Seasons Resort
- Airport transfer for departure
The above package is good from January 5 through March 31, 2013 (when the weather is great) and priced at $2,850 based on double occupancy. For more information email Landy or call him directly at 1-888-672-2057. If you decide to book, mention GVI and he’ll include a nice goody bag.
