We just came back from a golf trek that included Gullane, Muirfield, North Berwick West Links, Castle, The Old Course, and Kingsbarns. Castle is dramatic, scenically beautiful, but it is virtually unplayable for being so tricked up. Our guys are low single digits and considered Castle the worst experience of their golfing careers. You say "undulating". We were looking for the clown's mouth and windmill to appear at any time. Failure to require handicap certifications assures a six-hour debacle. The on-course marshalling was less-than-amateurish, wrong call after wrong call. Our advice, play Kingsbarns for sure (great track and fantastic scenic effect), and pair the Old Course with New or Eden if go through the Trust.

On my two previous trips to the old course I have always felt the history and beauty of St. Andrews. I hope the new course will add to that feeling. Thank you for the tip.
