Aviara is one of the Four Seasons properties offering luxury golf vacations for less.
How much pressure is the weak economy putting on the golf vacation and hospitality industries?
Well, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, which often touts the fact that it doesn’t engage in discounting its rooms, has announced a buy-two-nights, get-one-free “special” at nearly 35 of its properties worldwide (from now through April 1, 2009).
They can call it whatever they want. I call it a perfect opportunity for a little luxury golf vacation for less.

By the way, the editors of Golf Odyssey also wrote about the practice of discounting-without-calling-it-a-discount in a special section of the January issue called, “How to Save Money on Your Next Golf Vacation,” which includes examples of attractive deals (and how to get them) at golf vacation destinations you may be considering right now (including Las Vegas, Pinehurst, Williamsburg, Scotland, Ireland and New Zealand). You can read this special section right now, and all of the reviews in Golf Odyssey’s password-protected archive, just by taking a free trial. There is no obligation to subscribe.
