Today’s tip explains how you can play free golf (and I mean totally free) at some of the top daily-fee golf courses in New England.
You know those discount golf passes and coupon books that seem to be everywhere? I have inspected dozens of them, but most suffer from three major problems: a lack of quality courses, ridiculous restrictions on when you can play, and “savings” that don’t really amount to much.
But not this one.
The Golden Passport to New England Golf was put together by a group of area golf course owners, and, frankly, I had to do a double take when I read what they’re giving away.
Every one of the 25 courses in the book offers at least free rounds golf for two, and some offer free golf for four. Most of the courses include the cart, too, and only three courses restrict play to weekdays.
And we’re not talking about Goat Track Golf Course here. These are courses with names you probably know (or should), such as The Ranch, Blissful Meadows, Cyprian Keyes, Dunegrass, Miacomet, Stow Acres, Poquoy Brook, and others.
At $249, the book isn’t cheap, but it pays for itself if you use it twice. Use it three times, and now you’re playing golf for free (the total potential savings is more than $3,000).
Keep in mind that the 2009 book is good through the end of the year, and due to the cooler and wetter weather in June, the golf season is really just getting started up there.
Again, this is one of the best deals I’ve seen — and I now understand why only 200 Golden Passports were printed. When I called yesterday to find out the details, there were only 100 or so left, so if you want one, I recommend contacting them right away (ask for Donna) and please let her know that Golf Vacation Insider tipped you off about it.
