After my post about The Golden Passport to New England Golf, many of you asked if there were similar passbooks offering discount golf vacations and reduced green fees in other areas of the country.
The answer is yes, but I haven’t been impressed by many.
Here’s an exception that you might want to look into: Player’s Pass, which, for a nominal fee, provides deep discounts at hundreds of good-to-excellent golf courses nationwide.
I had come across Player’s Pass a few times in the past, but finally decided to check it out thoroughly based on your requests.
My conclusion? It has to be one of best nationwide sources for discount golf vacations or if you’re simply looking to pay reduced rates at your local courses.
Here’s why I like it:
Nationwide coverage: Except for Delaware, I think every state in the USA is represented with dozens of courses, and high-quality ones at that (see below).
Deep discounts with few restrictions or blackouts: The most common offer is for 2-for-1 green fees (the second person does not need to be a Player’s Pass member), but some courses offer flat, discounted rates or “Last Minute Deals” for up to 60 percent off green fees. Carts are often included, and, best of all, the discounts are mostly available seven days a week.
Inexpensive to join: It only costs $67 to join Player’s Pass, and it can pay for itself after using it twice.
Easy to use: Contact the course directly to make a tee time. Print a coupon from the Player’s Pass website and bring it with you. That’s it.
You can find the full list of participating courses a the Player’s Pass website, but here are some of the impressive ones I found after only a brief scan. Unless otherwise noted, all offers are good seven days a week:
