Discount Golf Vacations

Top courses and resorts like Kiawah (above) are getting creative with their replay rates and policies.

Attention all you trophy hunters out there:

I’ve been noticing a trend that can save you big time at several world top-100 courses.

I’m talking about 33 percent off a golf course that has hosted the Ryder Cup and is scheduled to host the PGA Championship.

And, 50 percent off a course ranked 61st in the world.

Even 75 percent off what Golf Odyssey called, “the most important golf course opening in Great Britain and Ireland — and arguably the world — during 2009.”

What I’m not talking about is subjecting yourself to extreme weather — you can get these Discount Golf Vacations in prime season…if you know what to look for: Read more →

<p class=Even top resorts like Kiawah Island are offering unlimited golf vacations.

Unlimited Golf Vacations are nothing new, but thanks in part to the weak economy, even some of America’s best courses and classiest resorts are offering golf’s version of the all-you-can-eat buffet.

Yes, even resort icons like Pebble Beach, Pinehurst, Kiawah Island, Sea Island, and the Greenbrier are offering (or recently offered) unlimited golf vacation packages.

In fact, I’ve wanted to publish a tip about this for several weeks now, but the list of deals kept getting bigger and the quality of the venues kept getting better.

Some have expiration dates approaching, so I couldn’t hold off any longer. Read more →

Maui Hawaii golf vacation packages at Wailea should include its Gold and Emerald (pictured) courses, not the Blue.

Maui Hawaii golf vacation packages at Wailea should include its Gold and Emerald (pictured) courses, not the Blue.

Here’s the latest example of why you need an unbiased golf vacation advisor in your corner.

The other day, I received a Discount Golf Vacation press release touting, “the ultimate golf vacation experience” for Maui, Hawaii golf vacations.

It described a “world class” Hawaii golf package at the Wailea Beach Marriott Resort & Spa that included golf on the “legendary” Wailea Blue Golf Course, the “grand lady of Wailea golf courses.” The price seemed pretty attractive, too.

Now, I recalled reading a review of Maui, Hawaii golf vacations in a recent issue of Golf Odyssey, so I logged into the members-only library and brought up the story.

I’m glad I did, because Golf Odyssey had quite a different perspective on the Wailea Blue Golf Course.  Read more →

You can play TPC Las Colinas and stay at the Four Seasons Resort Dallas at Las Colinas as part of this discount golf vacation deal.

One side benefit of the recession has been the emergence of some of the best Discount Golf Vacation deals I have ever seen at luxury golf vacation destinations.

I was just reading the February issue of Golf Odyssey and frankly, I could not believe the special deal they uncovered at the Four Seasons Resort and Club Dallas at Las Colinas.  Read more →

Wisconsin's Bull at Pinehurst Farms is an example of a great public course that offers reciprocal rates.

Wisconsin's Bull at Pinehurst Farms is an example of a great public course that offers discounted, reciprocal rates by playing affiliated courses in the area.

If you’re familiar with the term “reciprocal agreement,” you probably know it as the professional courtesy among private golf courses that allows members of Private Course A to play at Private Course B, and vice versa.

What you might not know is that many public golf courses have reciprocal agreements, too, and as illustrated in the September 2009 issue of Golf Odyssey, the savings they offer can help you craft high-quality, Discount Golf Vacations at savings of up to 50 percent or more.  Read more →

After my post about The Golden Passport to New England Golf, many of you asked if there were similar passbooks offering Discount Golf Vacations and reduced green fees in other areas of the country.

The answer is yes, but I haven’t been impressed by many.

Here’s an exception that you might want to look into: Player’s Pass, which, for a nominal fee, provides deep discounts at hundreds of good-to-excellent golf courses nationwide. Read more →
