The Meadow Valleys Three-Hole Highlight on an American Club Kohler Golf Vacation

Meadow Valleys' 14th is a formidable foe.

When playing the Meadow Valleys course at Blackwolf Run on your American Club Kohler golf vacation, pay special attention to holes 13 through 15.

On the front nine, you can spray your shots a bit without terrible retribution. While forgiveness can be fun, it is the back nine, however, that is fierce and unforgettable, particularly the aforementioned three-hole stretch.

Thirteen is a great, short par four of 351 yards requiring a blind drive over a hillside and then a partially blind second shot from (hopefully) the fairway up to an elevated — but dead flat — pedestal green.

Fourteen is a long, downhill, dogleg-right, par four where you must stop your tee shot short of a waste area, then lob a short iron into the green across and below. While everybody knows Pete Dye for his famous use of railroad ties to sure up bunkers and greens, on this hole, you actually walk through an old railroad car as a bridge over the river.

The capper of this trio is number 15, sarcastically called, Mercy. It’s a bear of a par three at 227 yards and it calls for a very unmerciful, all-or-nothing carry over a waste area to a huge, elevated green.

When playing these holes on your American Club Kohler golf vacation, you may be reminded of another Pete Dye masterpiece, La Romana Country Club in the Dominican Republic. That is, if you’re playing in summer. This is Wisconsin after all.
