The Best Three-Hole Stretch to Play on a Bandon Dunes Golf Vacation

Pac Dunes's No. 2 kicks off an amazing stretch.

Holes two, three and four at the powerhouse Pacific Dunes comprise the best three-hole stretch to play on a Bandon Dunes golf vacation, and they may well be the best three-hole stretch on the planet.

Two, a short par four that plays longer due to the prevailing headwind, will challenge every bit of shot accuracy you can muster. From a dramatically elevated tee box, you must thread a drive into its tight fairway while avoiding the devilish pot bunker located smack dab in the middle of it.

Then comes three, also with an elevated tee box, an inspired par five played into the same wind as two. It’s lined by low, gorse-covered ridges and has two bunkers in the center of the fairway, thus influencing the approach to its slightly elevated, intricate green tucked into a depression in the dunes.

The 4th is one of the world's best.

Next comes four, a 463-yard par-four miracle with the wind at your back and the Pacific Ocean flanking the entire right side. If you have a tendency to slice when your heart races, aim left because the view from this tee box will take your breath away.

Bandon Dunes Golf Resort isn’t the easiest place to travel to, but playing the best three-hole stretch on the best course at the world’s best golf resort is certainly worth the trip.

I agree with the coments about hole 4 on Pacific Dunes. But I think the stretch of hole 4,5 and 6 on Bandon dunes is better. Hole 4 is my most favorite golf hole ever. When you make the dogleg right turn, you are looking at the green framed by the beautiful pacific ocean. Awesome!!!
