Ask ten different people to name the best holes among the Pebble Beach golf courses and you’re likely to get twelve different answers…at least. However, there is little debate that the best three-hole stretch on the Monterey Peninsula is found at the famed Pebble Beach Golf Course.
The highlight reel begins with number six, a spectacular par-5 bordered almost entirely on the right-hand side by Carmel Bay. A left-center tee shot sets up a gut-checking, blind approach to a green dangling on a peninsula.
The seventh hole at Pebble Beach Golf Course is one of the best short par-3s in the world and a favorite photo op on a Pebble Beach golf vacation. Its tee is perched atop a cliff and overlooks a green that often gets splashed by the crashing waves surrounding it. From the blue markers, it’
s only 106 yards, but it requires anything from a wedge to a mid-iron depending on the wind.
At the eighth, the fairway is notched by a deep ocean ravine, forcing you to drive toward the precipice, then fire a long- or mid-iron over the void to a downhill green. This shot, said to be Jack Nicklaus’ favorite par-4 second shot in golf, is likely one of the most dramatic you’
ll hit during your Pebble Beach golf vacation, if not in your lifetime.
