Notes on Playing Pebble Beach Golf Links:
Walk the course. It’s immensely enjoyable and if you take a cart, you’ll be confined to the cart path.
Take a caddie. Their friendliness and stroke-saving knowledge is worth every penny.
Choose the right tee time. First timers may want to play in the afternoon to get the best views (less risk of fog). Return players may want to start off early for what can be speedier rounds.
Whatever your tee time, arrive early. You’ll be expected on the tee 10 minutes beforehand; the practice range is a five-minute shuttle ride; and you may have to wait a couple minutes for the shuttle.
Ensure you enjoy yourself. Hone your sand game because Pebble Beach features some of the smallest and most strategically bunkered greens you may ever play. Also, choose the right tee box. This isn’t the place to overly tax your game. Rather, revel in the beauty, challenge, and history and create fond memories you’ll have for the rest of your life.
Notes on The Lodge and The Inn at Spanish Bay:
The Lodge at Pebble Beach is the hub of the resort and is always abuzz with activity. All of the Lodge rooms are large and elegant and its memorabilia-adorned tavern, The Tap Room, is one of the golfiest spots in the world. The Inn at Spanish Bay sports a secluded, resort-like ambiance and is a great option if you also have non-golfers in your traveling party (great fitness facility, swimming pool and eight tennis courts). The Inn is located a short ride to Pebble Beach Golf Links and Spyglass Hill Golf Course, and it’s an easy walk to The Links at Spanish Bay. Two must do’s: 1) At dusk, enjoy ocean-front cocktails amid the fire pits and pleasant melodies of Scottish bagpipes, and 2) dine at Roy’s, which serves fantastic Hawaiian fusion fare
