Checking Bandon Dunes weather for an upcoming trip or to help you plan one? We’ve got you covered.
First, if you’re heading out there soon, check out the current conditions and five-day Bandon Dunes weather forecast below:
But keep in mind, the best way I know how to describe Bandon Dunes weather is, “predictably unpredictable.”
The weather out here can change, and change back, hour by hour. So, this is one of those places where it’s best to plan for swings in temperature and precipitation.
Now, if you’re looking for general information and averages to help plan a trip, keep reading.
Thanks to its coastal location and resulting lack of snowfall, Bandon Dunes weather is conducive to a golf vacation throughout the year.
As you can see from the chart below, even the average high temperatures in winter hover around a mild, 55 degrees, and it rains relatively little from April through October.

Of course, these charts don’t tell the whole story about Bandon Dunes weather, especially with respect to wind, which can be an issue no matter when you head out there.
For example, you wouldn’t expect it, but the month of July is particularly gusty.
And here are a two more tips about the wind at Bandon Dunes:
In general, it picks up in the late morning, so the best chance of calm conditions and early birdies might belong to the early birds. And, of the four, 18-hole courses at the resort, Old Macdonald is the windiest. Inland and protected by trees, Bandon Trails may be a bit less windy than the rest.
Ok, what you probably really want to know is, when can I experience the absolute best Bandon Dunes weather?
Well, you’ll generally find the best (i.e. warmest, driest) Bandon Dunes weather from May to October. More importantly, the days are the longest, allowing you to take advantage of the resort’s deeply discounted replay rates (about half price for resort guests).
Of course, this window also constitutes the resort’s high season, and even at this remote outpost things can sometimes start to feel a bit congested.
That’s why, in my experience, the tail end of the high season — October — may be the ideal time to go as it offers the best combination of mild, Bandon Dunes weather and lack of crowds.
For sheer value, on the other hand, it’s hard to beat November and April, which is when the rates drop but the mercury, on average, hovers around a high of 60 degrees each day.
Lower rates can obviously be found in winter and early spring, but with them comes rain and unpredictable conditions (not necessarily a bad thing for seekers of an even more authentic Irish/Scottish experience).
Speaking of rain, get this: though it has since disbanded, Bandon used to be the home of the Bandon Storm Watchers organization, and the town is the self-proclaimed “Storm Watching Capital of the World.”
My advice? Bring a rainshirt or rainsuit and at least one pair of waterproof golf shoes no matter when you go.
